Job Description:
Our R&D environmental simulation laboratory is searching for a competent and experienced R&D Test Engineer with at least 4 years of experience to join our team. In this role, the successful applicant will research proper testing practices, run test equipment, and design and fabricate custom test set ups. Responsibilities:
- Research test standards and creating test plans based on the needs of our customers.
-Program and verify high level equipment parameters for testing.
-Collaborate with Test Technicians and Quality Management Staff in order to ensure all company policies and procedures are implemented during testing.
-Operation of test machinery included but not limited to: Vibration Shaker, Shock tester, Temperature and Humidity Chambers, Thermal Shock Chamber, Salt Spray Chamber, Tensile Testers, and Thermal Vacuum Chamber.
-Design, fabricate, and verify custom test equipment and custom test set ups.
-Perform FEA analysis on test samples, vibration fixtures and test set ups.
-Stay current in best practices and investigate new methods of testing.
Requirements:
-Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Degree in Mechatronics is ideal.
-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Keen eye for detail and a results driven approach.
-Excellent report and technical document writing skills.
-Impeccable communication, presentation and organizational skills.
-Excellent skills with Windows Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Visio and Outlook – must be able to chart and graph trends, create metrics, and track and monitor data.
-Strong root cause and trend analysis reporting skills.
-Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods.
-Ability to work independently to create and deliver testing results.
-Proficient in Solidworks CAD as well Solidworks Simulation. Static, Modal, and Vibration Analysis.
-Hands on machine shop skills using lathe, mill, welder and other machine shop equipment.
-CNC machining experience, rapid prototyping, LabVIEW and PLC programming a plus.

In this supervised role, the successful applicant will be responsible for performing mechanical and temperature related testing, data recording, and general lab duties. Responsibilities and Day to Day Functions:
-Preparation, soldering, crimping, clamping, fixturing, assembly and labeling of samples to be tested.
-Perform automated and manual tests in accordance to laboratory quality documents and procedures.
-Accurate recording and reporting of test results, adjustment and operation of equipment, recognition of deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.
-Organization of test data into a large database.
-Operation of test machinery included but not limited to: Vibration Shaker, Shock tester, Temperature and Humidity Chambers, Thermal Shock Chamber, Salt Spray Chamber, Tensile Testers, and Thermal Vacuum Chamber.
-Preventative maintenance of testing equipment and facilities.
-Apply technical instructions from engineers and technician manager as related to testing duties.
-Simple design and fabrication of test jigs and fixtures.
-Other laboratory related duties as needed.
-Daily use of calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, microscopes, thermocouples, etc.
Requirements:
-Associates degree in related field, bachelor a plus.
-5 years’ experience in related field. Familiarity with telemetry (force sensors, accelerometers, temperature, pressure).
-Good mechanical intuition and/or hands-on experience with small electromechanical devices.
-Good written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
-Ability to follow verbal directions and written procedures.
-Able to work independently and as a team; enthusiasm and flexibility to learn new things.
-Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and be self-motivated to follow through on assignments.
-Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
-Hands on individual comfortable with adjusting machinery; fabrications skills: machining, welding are a major plus.
